VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME

Help Us Soar

Volunteering at the sanctuary is a great way to make a positive impact, while also gaining valuable experience working with animals. Our volunteer opportunities include tasks such as walking dogs, cleaning dog kennels and play yards, feeding, grooming, and assisting with adoption events.

Volunteering not only benefits the animals, but it can also have a positive impact on your own well-being. Spending time with animals has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, boost mood, and increase social connections. It can also provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of these animals.

Whether you have a few hours to spare or are looking to make a regular commitment, we may have a volunteer opportunity that will fit your schedule and interests. Join our team today and help us provide the best care for our furry friends!

HELP FOSTER A DOG!

Help save a dog

**Important Foster Program Guidelines - F.A.B.R**

Fostering can be an incredibly rewarding experience, but it requires dedication and experience, especially when working with F.A.B.R and the dogs we rescue. Here are some important reminders if you're considering applying to be a foster for us:

1. **Experience and Knowledge Are Essential**: We specifically seek fosters with substantial dog handling experience. Our rescued dogs often come with a variety of challenges such as behavioral issues, dog reactivity, and sometimes human aggression. While we do not place human-aggressive dogs in foster homes—they remain as sanctuary dogs—you must be prepared for other challenging behaviors.

2. **Commitment is Crucial**: Fostering is a long-term commitment until the dog is adopted, which can take weeks or even months. Before applying, please ensure you are ready to commit for the entire duration.

3. **Honesty is Key**: Previously, the foster program had to be paused due to applicants overstating their experience. We are seeing this issue arise again. Misrepresenting your experience can lead to serious consequences for both the dogs and the program.

4. **Transparency Is Required**: We are 100% open about the challenges our dogs face, and we expect the same transparency from our fosters. Once a dog is in your home, genuine experience and knowledge are vital for their care. If you're not honest, it places undue stress on us and, more importantly, on our dogs.

5. **Home Requirements**: Our dogs must be the only pets in the household, except for Cedar, who is cat-friendly. We need fosters who can confidently manage behavioral issues and are comfortable with dog-selective or dog-reactive animals.

Fostering truly saves lives, but it's only beneficial when done by people who are honest about their capabilities and experience. Being a hero isn't about taking on more than you can handle—it's about being realistic about what you can offer, so no dog ends up stressed, or needing to be returned.

If you think you meet these criteria and can provide a safe, understanding, and committed environment, we welcome you to apply. Thank you for your support and understanding in helping us offer the best care possible to our dogs.
